Yosher Divrei Emet - Moshe's Light Print E-mail

ChanukahThe 20th of Kislev is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Meshulam Feivish HaLevi of Zbarazh, author of Yosher Divrei Emes, a basic work on chasidic thought (1794). He studied under R. Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov and R. Dov Ber of Mezritch. His teachings appear in Likutim Yekarim. His disciples included Rav Menachem Mendel of Kosov.

To what was Moshe compared when he appointed the Seventy Sages (Behaalotecha)? To a candle that burns and does not use any of its oil. (Rashi)

Moshe’s energy and power were focused entirely on the people and not himself. That is why his “oil” was not consumed. We only consume our energy when our efforts are focused on ourselves and not the community. (Yosher Divrei Emet – Behaalotecha)

Focus all our spiritual energies on Chanukah outward so that they will increase and not dissipate.
