Lights XIII: Rav Shlomo Kluger Print E-mail

Chanukah“Shine Your face upon Your servant, save me in Your kindness.” (Psalms 31:17) King David asks God to shine the Divine Image upon him, as in, “Let us make man in our image,” so that David reflects God’s Presence to the world.

The Kabbalists teach that one who has grown into his or her Divine image while alive, meaning, they have used the commandments to perfect all the parts of their bodies, are saved from “Chibut HaKever,” the suffering of the grave. This is the ultimate kindness, that we have the opportunity and tools to acquire God’s image. (Rabbi Shlomo Kluger, Tehillot Yisrael)

ToolsApplication:
When we reflect on the spiritual light of the Chanukah candles, we should pray that we merit that our very being reflects God’s light, and that we will be able to acquire the Divine image through our Service of God.
